old american flag1 State of the Swash Address: Mid August 2010

It’s about that time once again for another State of the Swash address. I, the featured and only commentator on this blogsite, have been extremely busy with real life shit. I was in New Orleans for a week taking care of my company’s biggest annual trade show and weeks prior to that, I was swamped with a shit ton of projects that I had to complete for the show itself. Being the only artist in a multi-million dollar company is a bit taxing at times and more often than not my extracurricular activities are put on the back burner. Also, less than a month before the show, the entire marketing department went from three people down to just one: me. As far as the show itself, New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in America and from Frenchmen Street to Bourbon Street to Jackson Square, I was for lack of a better term, completely inebriated. So to any of you wondering, that is why there were no blogs or news stories posted for a week.

So, while I was on my trip, I completely ignored the news via television, the paper or the internet. I needed a mental break from the going-ons of the world and I really didn’t have much time to care anyway or at least, the bourbon and Abita Amber wouldn’t let me. So when I did get home and pushed the power button on my television remote, I was pretty much overwhelmed with the exact same news stories that were the hot topics when I last paid attention more than a week before. Every single station was broadcasting one story, the mosque at Ground Zero. Seriously? Is this all that there is to talk about? I guess August is a slow news month typically but c’mon. I think I blogged about this very subject like three months ago. I’m not trying to make light of the issue but is it really THAT prolific of a thing that it needs so much attention? There are other stories out there that need some more light shed on them. Selective agenda-driven journalism is so lamely passé.

As far as the site goes, I’m trying to get other people to contribute to it. No one seems to be taking the bait so for the foreseeable future I guess that I will remain the sole commentator at TheSwash.com.

I’m also trying to develop a podcast or even a videocast that I would produce weekly for TheSwash. I’ve talked to a few people who are interested in contributing to the project, so I guess we will see how all that goes. If anyone wants to contribute or has any ideas, feel free to share them.

I’m currently reading “American Conspiracies” by Jesse Ventura and I just finished up “Liberty & Tyranny” by Mark Levin as well as “The Federalist Papers” by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison & John Jay. I plan to read up on Samuel Adams (my favorite American brewmaster) and the Sons of Liberty (not the Metal Gear Solid ones), as I plan to write a lengthy article about them in the near future.

In regards to Jesse Ventura’s book, I am about 60 percent of the way through it. I’ve been intrigued by most of it and have been really captivated by all the links between the different conspiracies he’s discussed and the MK-ULTRA Project. I sense an MK-ULTRA blog in the near future as well.

I’d also like to share that I’ve gotten a lot of criticism lately about the use of expletives in my blogs. All I have to say to that is, “Don’t fucking read them then!” If a few little colorful words offend you that much, then there are millions of other blogs for you to follow. When I’m pissed or irritated, I vent and usually that means venting with colorful metaphors. Chances are, if offended, you aren’t the right audience for my blog: emphasis on “MY”. I’m not catering to the crowd that makes Penn & Teller change the name of their awesome show to “BS” when sold as DVDs in super-retailers. I want the full on “Bullshit!” and so should you!

So anyway, I am still working on the book project and hope to have some of these “colorful” blogs or articles or whatever you want to call them stuffed into a nice thick paperback volume that everyone of my friends and family will get for Christmas this year. I promise to autograph them, even though the cost of the ink will probably hold more value than my signed book. I anticipate them making very useful coasters or blunt wraps for my liberal friends. My mum will be super proud!

Well, that’s it for now. I’ve rambled on aimlessly about trivial shit in my personal life and most of you would rather I just bitch about Obama, the media, idiots and everything else under the sun that isn’t me. So for now, this is Emperor Corpus Xavier Black Esq. IX signing off.. er typing off.
