Marilyn Monroe, the 1950′s Hollywood icon, has hit the headlines once again after a man in New Jersey bought rare photos of her at a garage sale. The pictures of Marilyn Monroe were bought by Anton Fury over 30 years ago, but have only recently been rediscovered, reports MyFoxNY.com.
Fury, who says he used to visit garage sales all the time in the 1980′s, had no idea the envelope of negatives were rare photos of the legendary actress, saying, “I couldn’t tell what they were, I could see they were a girl in a bikini but beyond that I didn’t know, so I bought them. I took them home and imagine my surprise”. Fury decided to store them in a filing cabinet where they remained till this year. The amateur photographer rediscovered the images after cleaning out his belongings, but insists he has no plans to profit from them, saying, “I’m not out here trying to make a million dollars – although that would be nice. We’re trying to find out what these are”. Fury claims the images have already generated waves of attention, saying, “I’ve gotten a million calls from all over the world, from media all over the world. From Australia this morning, Germany, Colombia, it’s crazy”.
Marilyn Monroe, best known for her movies ’Some Like It Hot’ and ‘The Seven Year Itch’, died in 1962 at the age of 36. She was found dead at her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, with the cause of death recorded as “acute barbiturate poisoning” resulting from a “probable suicide”.
