Writing an introduction for your own book is a bit weird, at least to me. It’s as if I am trying to sell you on something that you have most likely already bought. It’s kind of like buying a used car and driving it off of the lot while the used car salesman rides around with you for a couple of days. And lets be honest here, this book is really fucking long. So why do you need me swelling the page count even further in an attempt to summarize all that you are about to read? I certainly don’t want to sprinkle in any spoilers, do I? I think you got the idea of what this ride is about by the subtitle on the front cover or the description on the back. Although, I guess that I should probably make some things clear from the start.

If you have read my other books or follow my writings on my website TheSwash.com, you pretty much know what is in store for you on this journey. Truthfully, there is a greater chance than not that I will offend you and piss you off. I mean c’mon man, this is a very opinionated commentary about the 2012 presidential election as told by a Ron Paul supporter who is often times drunk when he writes. I’ve been known to dabble in other vices as well but in this growing police state, I probably shouldn’t incriminate myself any further.

I’m going to use unsavory words a lot and for whatever reason, that really upsets a large group of people. Let me clearly state that this isn’t a book for those whiney pricks. Between my previous books and my writings online, I am done being expected to explain or apologize for my use of coarse language. The fact of the matter is, when someone says “That offends me”, I am actually glad, as it immediately lets me know that that person is a self-important asshole that just wants to whine and wither like a little bitch because they want their rules to be imposed on all of society. Those people are fucking statists but it’s all good, I don’t mind having a punching bag around just so I can get out my aggression once in a while. Additionally, those who want to write off everything I am saying simply because I drop an f-bomb or two, are idiots. You can call my approach low brow or classless but despite that, to blow off everything I’m saying because you are overly sensitive to a single syllable phonetic sound, is just bullshit and weak. Man the fuck up you elitist hypocrite because I am sure at some point you’ve dropped a “fuck” or two. Besides, some of my greatest influences made careers out of defying the linguistic decorum imposed by busybody dickbag tyrants. Penn Jillette, George Carlin and Hunter S. Thompson are just the first that come to mind when thinking of those who weren’t intimidated by the censors and the morality police – morality being used oxymoronically of course. The point is, I write like I talk and I am very well aware that this isn’t an academic book, it’s just real talk put to paper because sometimes, shit just needs to be said.

Now during the long process of chronicling this 18 month journey from the earliest days of the Republican primary race through Super Tuesday, the two big parties’ national conventions, the big debates and the big anti-climactic climax that was Election Day I often times found myself kicking and screaming in a drunken frenzy at my television set because what I was watching the entire time was nothing more than pure unadulterated madness! This whole process really opened my eyes up to this grand freak show and showed me how the machinations of this malicious beast actually turn and churn. The two party system is an illusion and what we are really dealing with is just one big evil monster factory that keeps spitting out hungry jackals willing to do anything to feed off of the power and greed that awaits the one animal that can rip, tear, bite and claw better than the rest in their pack.

The 2012 presidential election should have shown any moderately intelligent free-thinking American individual just how bad we’ve got it. We live in an American nightmare, which on one hand is scary as fuck and clearly reveals that we are a mad group of people completely oblivious to reason, rationality and logic. On the other hand, it reveals that we are a nation of zombified sheep ready and willing to believe anything that any of these bastard jackals throws at us because we are afraid of everything – a nation fearful of their neighbor, their own shadow and even their own children. Hell, both hands are pretty much the same really. And to be frank, optimism is a hard concept to embrace when there are so many assholes shitting in the community pool.

In an effort to not come off as a completely pessimistic asshole, I should point out that the number of people I see waking up to reality is growing pretty rapidly. Many people were waken up by Ron Paul in the 2008 presidential election and even more were woken up in 2012. There is still hope, even though it often times seems fleeting. There are a good amount of articles included in this book where I paint a picture of hopelessness because sometimes, even with the hard work and dedication of good people pushing the right message, it is the corrupt system that spits back and changes the rules in their favor.

You see, oppression is alive and well in America. Except the real oppression today is directed at those who support real liberty, the same philosophy that our Founding Fathers established with the Constitution. What makes this modern oppression even more apparent is the fact that we are the ones that the establishment calls “radicals”. Well, I was born in 1978 and was a kid of the 80’s and from what I’ve always understood, the word “radical” means awesome.

So as you get into this book, realize that this journey will not end with any positive revelations about the future. Sure, all isn’t lost yet but time is running short and as you will see within the pages of this book, the tyrants will do anything possible to maintain power while systematically eliminating the voices of those fighting for the rights of the people. They do not like to be opposed or threatened and when they are, they’ll do anything to silence their enemies. So I say fuck that, fuck them, it is time to speak louder!

I’m still proofreading it, which is taking a while as it is pretty long and I’ve been distracted by the holidays and this two week vacation/hiatus I am on.
