Apple Hits $600 Billion Market Cap
Stocks turned lower Tuesday, extending their recent string of declines, as weakness in overseas markets and the start of earnings season kept investors on edge.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped into negative territory, led byAlcoa [AA 9.54 -0.06 (-0.62%)] and ExxonMobil [XOM 82.97 -0.91 (-1.08%) ], following four straight sessions of declines.
The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq also turned negative. The CBOE Volatility Index, widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market, edged above 19.
Among the key S&P sectors, utilities slipped, while techs struggled to hold gains.
