Missile Launchers Being Added to London Apartment Rooftops for Added Olympic “Security”(0)

Missiles mean business, especially if you’re sitting on top of one pretending it’s a penis of mass destruction. And now the U.K. Ministry of Defense has notified some London apartment dwellers that they could be adding missile launchers to the top of their buildings as part of heightened security precautions for the upcoming Olympics. Obviously, some residents aren’t too happy about it because they’re sissies. Me? I sleep with a knife taped to one hand and a live grenade in the other.

One resident Brian Whelan wasn’t too happy to find posters and leaflets priming people about the missile defense launchers:
“They say they’ll only use them as a last resort, but… you’d shower debris across the east end of London by firing these missiles.”

The Ministry of Defence defended itself by saying that the missiles would only be used to “counter threats from very high performance, low-flying aircraft” and that the location was chosen because it’s relatively close to the Olympic Park.

Great, now I want missile launchers on my building. Ol’ Brian here is complaining about them, but I’d let you install one ON MY BALCONY and then MAKE ME PAY TO HAVE IT THERE. As long as I can touch it whenever I want you’ve got yourself a deal. *calling friend* Dude — you won’t believe what the government just installed on my balcony. Come over and bring a hammer!

Britain Prepares to Fight Civil Disobedience with Chemical WeaponsComments Off

Future riots could be quelled by projectiles containing chemical irritants fired by police using new weapons that are now in the final stages of development.

The Discriminating Irritant Projectile (Dip) has been under development by the Home Office’s centre for applied science and technology (Cast) as a potential replacement for plastic bullets.

Documents obtained by the Guardian reveal that last summer’s riots in England provided a major impetus to Home Office research into new-generation riot control technology, ranging from the Dip to even more curious weaponry described by Cast technicians as “skunk oil”.

It seemsthe UK is a little behind when it comes to fulfilling its duty to protect itscitizens. If the law passes it will give the British government the powerto monitor all digital data of its citizens. Internet companies will berequired to install special hardware to track all online activity. Jake Diliberto,US Marine and RT blogger, joins us to talk about this contentious move by the British government.

21 Signs That the UK is Becoming a Big Brother Surveillance SocietyComments Off

Why would anyone want to live in the UK at this point?  Well, if you enjoy having every little detail of your life dictated to you by elitist control freaks then you might like living there.  But most of the rest of the world is absolutely horrified that the UK is being transformed into a hellish Big Brother surveillance society.  The UK truly is on the “cutting edge” when it comes to implementing liberty-killing rules and regulations. Many have pointed out that the United States is becoming a Big Brother police state, but the truth is that the UK is even worse.  The madness going on in the UK is where the rest of the world is headed.  Right now, there are more surveillance cameras per capita in the UK than anywhere else in the world.  If you accidentally drop a couple of potato chips in public or if you whisper a phrase that is not politically correct in a restaurant there is a good chance that you will be hauled into court.  In the UK, the public has been sold the lie that society will be better off if everything and everyone is constantly monitored.  But instead of improving society, what all of this surveillance is really doing is turning the entire nation into a very frightening version of George Orwell’s 1984.

Sadly, most of the rest of the globe is going down the exact same path that the UK has gone.  The UK is several years ahead of most of the rest of us, but eventually almost every nation on earth will be just like them.

The following are 21 signs that the UK is being transformed into a hellish Big Brother surveillance society….

#1 A new UK law will allow the government “listening agency” to openly monitor all phone calls, all emails, all website visits, all Facebook status updates and all text messages.

Asian States Are World’s Largest Arms BuyersComments Off

China, India and South Korea – three of the most vibrant economies in Asia – are also beefing up their military arsenals with new weapons systems from the United States, Russia, Germany, France and the UK.

According to the latest figures released Monday by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the world’s five largest arms importers in 2007-2011 were all Asian states beating out the traditional frontrunners – the rich, oil-blessed Middle Eastern countries.

India was the world’s single largest recipient of arms, accounting for 10 per cent of global arms imports, followed by South Korea (six per cent of arms transfers), Pakistan (five per cent), China (five per cent) and Singapore (four per cent).

The five biggest arms suppliers in 2007-2011 were the United States, Russia, Germany, France and the UK.

With the exception of Germany, the four other suppliers are veto-wielding permanent members of the UN Security Council.

The top five suppliers accounted for 75 per cent of all international arms transfers.

New deals

Still, the most significant purchase in 2011, and the largest arms deal for at least two decades, was Saudi Arabia’s order for 84 new and 70 rebuilt F-15SG fighter planes from the United States.

US, France, UK, Turkey, Italy Prep for Military Intervention in SyriaComments Off

Despite public denials, military preparations for intervention in the horrendous Syrian crisis are quietly afoot in Washington, Paris, Rome, London and Ankara. President Barack Obama is poised for a final decision after the Pentagon submits operational plans for protecting Syrian rebels and beleaguered populations from the brutal assaults of Bashar Assad’s army, DEBKAfile’s Washington sources disclose.

This process is also underway in allied capitals which joined the US in the Libyan operation that ended Muammar Qaddafi’s rule in August, 2011. They are waiting for a White House decision before going forward.

In Libya, foreign intervention began as an operation to protect the Libyan population against its ruler’s outrageous crackdown on dissent. It was mandated by UN Security Council. There is no chance of this in the Syrian case because it will be blocked by a Russian veto. Therefore, Western countries are planning military action of limited scope outside the purview of the world body, possibly on behalf of “Friends of Syria,” a group of 80 world nations which meets for the first time in Tunis Friday, Feb. 24, to hammer out practical steps for terminating the bloodbath pursued by the Assad regime.

The foreign ministers and senior officials – Russia has excluded itself – will certainly be further galvanized into action by the tragic deaths of two notable journalists Wednesday, Feb. 22, on the 19th day of the shelling of Homs.

Preparations for the event are taking place at the Foreign Office in London. Wednesday, Foreign Secretary William Hague said: Governments around the world have the responsibility to act…and to redouble our efforts to stop the Assad regime’s despicable campaign of terror.”

Hague pointedly said nothing about removing the Syrian ruler. Nor did he spell out the efforts need to stop the campaign of terror. DEBKAfile’s military sources note that he left these issues open because a decision by President Obama about if and how the US will act is pending until the Pentagon submits operational plans to Commander-in-Chief Obama.

The US president is also waiting for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s report on the mood at the Tunis conference. He wants to know in particular if Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar and the UAR will support US-led Western intervention in Syria, both politically and financially.

The Sunday Times correspondent Marie Colvin and the French Figaro video-photographer Remi Ochik died Wednesday in the heavy shelling of a fortified building which housed Western journalists making their way into Homs under the protection of Syrian rebels. Three other Western journalists were injured. Western military sources reported Thursday that this undercover Western press center was maintained by the rebels in tight secrecy. The building was practically gutted by a direct hit, suggesting that Syrian forces located it with the help of advanced electronic measures.

Another Western source noted that the journalists covering the atrocities in Homs from this hideout used coded channels of communications protected by anti-jamming and anti-tracking devices. The Syrians must therefore have called on Russian satellites or advanced Iranian electronic systems to locate it.

The authorities in Damascus decided to treat the press hideout as the first step in overt Western intervention in the Syrian conflict. It was accordingly razed totally with its occupants.
