Jennifer Lopez has been called out by United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI)—the group claims that she’s supporting Al-Qaeda by endorsing the car company Fiat.

So what in the world does a squat little car have to do with the biggest terrorist organization in the world? Here’s the deal: a Fiat subsidiary called Iveco sells vehicles in Iran, and some of these vehicles have allegedly been used in terrorist activities. It might seem like a small connection to J-Lo, but UANI is taking it very seriously.

The group recently created an ad parodying Jen’s “My World” Fiat ad by taking scenes from the commercial and splicing them with graphic images of the protests in Iran. While Jennifer Lopez cruises the streets with the wind in her hair, people are shown bloodied, lying in the street, and dying. There’s a shot of a motorcycle on fire and people being hanged. It’s a little too graphic to show here.

A narrator imitating J-Lo’s voice says over the video, “Fiat and the brutal Iranian regime … or the people of Iran. I hope concerned citizens don’t make me choose.” It’s certainly a provocative ad, and one that Fiat can’t be too happy about. At the end of the video the company’s name is said to stand for Facilitating Iranian Acts of Tyranny.

It will be interesting to see if Fiat and J-Lo go after UANI for using their products and images in the ad—it’s fairly obvious that the group didn’t get permission from Jennifer Lopez or the company to do so, and its parody ad is making them both look bad. However, taking legal action could also end up backfiring if more people get on UANI’s side.

According to the New York Daily News, the group believes J-Lo is in the wrong because she’s “serving as a spokesperson for a company that freely does business with a regime that is developing an illegal nuclear weapons program, financing and sponsoring terrorist groups including al-Qaeda, has killed American and NATO soldiers and is recognized as one of the world’s leading human rights violators.” Of course it’s highly unlikely anyone informed Jennifer that Fiat had a company selling cars in Iran, and it’s also doubtful that terrorists get all of their vehicles from Iveco.

J-Lo has certainly been having a difficult time with her image lately, so she might just be praying that people ignore UANI’s claims, or perhaps she’s hoping that Fiat’s legal team will deal with them. She’s already having enough trouble defending her relationship with 24-year-old dancer Casper Smart, so she doesn’t need the added stress of defending her relationship with a car company. And there’s no telling what kind of deal she signed with Fiat—she could lose a lot of money or get sued for breach of contract if she suddenly cuts ties with the company like UANI wants.
