Ron Paul Warming to Potential VP Slot?Comments Off

“I am The one person who can take young people away from Obama”.

Congressman Ron Paul appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight Thursday and dropped a significant hint that he would consider accepting a spot on the 2012 GOP ticket if it was offered to him.

Paul has vowed to stay in the GOP nomination race going into the national convention, and he still believes he can win it. However, there has been increasing talk of Paul potentially being on the ticket, regardless of whether he secures the nomination or not.

When asked by Morgan whether he would take a position in a Mitt Romney administration if it was offered to him, the Congressman shot back:

“I’ll have to wait and see. Maybe I’ll have to ask him if he wants to help me when I get in.”

Morgan conceded that he was hasty to discount Paul’s chances of winning, explaining that he framed the question in that way because he believes the Republican party would “be mad” not to use Paul in some form, given his popularity.

“In every state I always win among young people aged 18-30.” Paul pointed out. “If they are thinking about the future or even the Fall election, young people are very very important, and I am the one person who can take young people away from Obama.”

Cathy McMorris Rodgers Could Be the Dark Horse GOP VP Pick(1)

Although largely unknown outside her district in eastern Washington state, Republican Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers could be the next U.S. vice president.

First elected in 2004, McMorris Rodgers is now in her second term as vice chairman of the Republican Conference, which makes her the highest-ranking Republican woman on Capitol Hill. She has built a significant amount of behind-the-scenes clout, and has become one of her party’s most influential leaders on issues like international bailouts, earmark reform and the fight against Obamacare.

McMorris Rodgers also has the kind of compelling life story that political operatives always look for. The daughter of produce farmers who operated a fruit stand, she was the first member of her family to attend college. She earned her MBA from the University of Washington in 2002. By the age of 24, she was a member of the state House of Representatives.

Married to a retired U.S. Navy commander, McMorris Rodgers is also one of only eight women to have ever given birth while serving in Congress, and the only woman who has done it twice.

Her first child, Cole, was born a month premature and was diagnosed with Down syndrome. That experience led her to form a bipartisan Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus, which educates lawmakers about the disorder and aims to protect Americans who have it.

According to Kellyanne Conway, a veteran Republican strategist who was among the first to float Sarah Palin’s name as a possible VP pick in 2008, McMorris Rodgers might actually benefit from her relatively low profile.

Hillary Clinton Done with ‘Hire Wire’ PoliticsComments Off

Like President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says she hasn’t been watching the Republican primary debates. But at least Clinton has an excuse for tuning out — she says she’s quitting government after the election no matter who wins.

“What could we do to persuade you to run for vice president?” a staffer asked at a State Department town hall meeting Thursday, referring to cyclical rumors and the wishful thinking of some supporters. “Oh, my goodness,” Clinton replied.

“I will certainly stay on until the president nominates someone and that transition can occur,” said Clinton, who has insisted repeatedly that she will be a one-term secretary. “But I think, after 20 years …of being on the high wire of American politics, and all of the challenges that come with that, it would probably be a good idea to just find out how tired I am.”

The famously workaholic secretary said she has “no idea” what she will do in the future, and doesn’t want to think about it because it might divert attention from today’s diplomatic tasks. The election, she said, is going to “suck up a lot of the attention from following areas that we think are so important,” including “trying to resolve frozen conflicts” and “trying to build up America’s reputation” in the world.

But that might be good thing, she said, because “maybe we can even get more done” if the rest of the country is fixated on the polls.

“It’s a little odd for me to be totally out of an election season,” Clinton said. “But, you know, I didn’t watch any of those debates.”

And what about that vice president question? Although friends and colleagues say neither she nor the White House is interested, Clinton took a pass.

“I am happy to work with Vice President Biden, who does an excellent job and is a huge advocate and support for this department,” she said.

Cold Hard Math: Gingrich and Santorum Cannot Win(17)

NOTE: BASED OFF OF EVIDENCE AND THE FACTS I’VE READ ELSEWHERE, THIS COULD ACTUALLY NOT BE TRUE. I’VE REACHED OUT TO THE AUTHOR OF THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE LINKED IN THE FIRST SENTENCE, AS WELL AS TO THE PEOPLE AT THE RON PAUL CAMPAIGN IN AN EFFORT TO GET THEIR FULL LIST OF STATES AND DELEGATES TALLY BUT NEITHER HAVE RESPONDED. I FIRST HEARD ABOUT THIS SITUATION IN THE ARTICLE LINKED AND IT WAS BACKED UP BY RON PAUL’S SENIOR ADVISOR DOUG WEAD. I SHOULD HAVE RESEARCHED IT BETTER MYSELF BEFORE COMMENTING ON IT INSTEAD OF JUMPING THE GUN AS I DID. WEAD’S COMMENTS ON THE ISSUE ARE EMBEDDED AT THE BOTTOM. ON THE VIDEO GO TO THE 3:00 MARK – WEAD SAYS THAT GINGRICH & SANTORUM WILL BE 564 DELEGATES BEHIND PAUL DUE TO BEING OFF OF BALLOTS. IF I AM ABLE TO ACQUIRE A FULL LIST OF THESE STATES, I’LL ADD UP THE NUMBERS AND DOUBLE CHECK THESE CLAIMS. UNTIL SUCH A LIST EXISTS, TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT, AS I SHOULD HAVE DONE INITIALLY. WITH TWO SOURCES FOR THIS STORY, I RAN WITH IT – THAT WAS MY MISTAKE AND I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY CONFUSION IT MAY HAVE CAUSED.

An article from The Examiner was brought to my attention by a friend of mine who is a behind the scenes contributor to The Swash. In that article it talks about the fact that neither Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum can win the Republican nomination, as mathematically – they are already eliminated. Contrary to the mainstream media, who continues to shove these guys down our throats, this is still just a two-man race between Governor Romney and Congressman Paul. Essentially, a vote for either Newt or Rick will be a wasted vote and any campaign contributions you may send them will just be money thrown away. At this point in the game, you’ve got to decide between Romney or Paul because any other decision you make, after knowing this, would be futile. How is this so? Let me explain.

People are already aware that Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum are to be excluded from the Virginia ballot because they either didn’t fill their paperwork out correctly or they just didn’t hand it in on time. Wow! What a bunch of go-getters! Now that’s showing some leadership! You see, if they were taking this whole thing as seriously as they, and the media, portray them to be, then their shit would’ve been handled. Don’t these long-time Washington insiders know that you’ve got to dot your “i”‘s and cross your “t”‘s? Rick Perry and Jon Huntsman were also left off of the Virginia ballots as well and they ended up dropping out. Was the real reason for them leaving the race due to this sort of carelessness? If Perry and Huntsman were both in the same boat as Gingrich and Santorum, then they knew they couldn’t win the election because they wouldn’t be able to gain enough delegates for the nomination. You see, for these guys, it’s not only Virginia that has excluded them from the ballot, they have been left off of the ballots of other key states as well. In fact, according to the article, they have been left off of so many ballots that there is no way, even if they win every state they are running in, that they can muster up enough delegates to win this thing. Gingrich and Santorum are completely fucked.

This is the real reason why the Ron Paul campaign was happy with the results of South Carolina. With Newt beating Mitt, Mr. Romney was unable to secure a mass amount of delegates and thus, in the end, this two-man race shifted and allowed Ron Paul to gain some traction based off of Mitt’s loss. In fact, the longer Gingrich and Santorum stay in this thing, the more they will hurt the Romney campaign and help Ron Paul. Paul’s senior advisor, Doug Wead has appeared on several shows trying to point this out but the mainstream media is having none of it. God forbid they report the truth and have to face the fact that this is a two-man show with Paul on Romney’s heels. In reality, Gingrich and Santorum should have the integrity to be truthful with the public. They know they can’t win the nomination yet they continue to parade around as if they can and in doing so, waste the time and money of the poor saps who support them. They are taking advantage of every single one of you who have bought a coffee mug, mouse pad or sweater vest and you should be pissed!

Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum are schemers and this scam they are running is a nasty slap in the face to the office of President. The highest office in the land deserves a certain level of respect and these two bastards are taking a shit on it. Maybe in their little brains they actually believe that they can win this thing, even though they know they can’t. Ego is a hard motherfucker to overcome. In the case of Santorum, he must be waiting for some sort of divine intervention. Maybe he feels that the sky will open up and Jesus’ giant hand will reach down and carry him to the throne. Maybe Newt feels like he can just ride this fucker out and hope to get picked as someone’s VP. In reality, they are both just trying to get more name recognition so that they can sell more books and charge more money for speaking engagements. These two ass clowns are pulling a Herman Cain on us, except they’re doing it so much better than the pizza mogul did.

Unfortunately, there is still a way that one of these two dickbags could still win the nomination, even though it is extremely unlikely and damn near impossible. The way that they could win is through a brokered convention. For us to even arrive at such a scenario would mean that the after the first vote fails to nominate a winner, then all the voting that has been done is null and void and the decision of who is to be nominated as the GOP’s man to challenge Obama is left in the hands of insanity. Frankly, anyone can win the race at this point and it doesn’t necessarily benefit Gingrich or Santorum in the slightest. Hell, someone can be given the nomination that wasn’t even running in the race! Wikipedia explains the process:

Once the first ballot, or vote, has occurred, and no candidate has a majority of the delegates’ votes, the convention is then considered brokered; thereafter, the nomination is decided through a process of alternating political horse-trading, and additional re-votes. In this circumstance, all regular delegates (who, previously, were pledged to the candidate who had won their respective state’s primary or caucus election) are “released,” and are able to switch their allegiance to a different candidate before the next round of balloting. It is hoped that this ‘freedom’ will result in a re-vote resulting in a clear majority of delegates for one candidate.

For the record the last time we had a brokered convention was in 1964 when Barry Goldwater got the nomination, so the likelihood of this happening is very minute. Besides, who’s to say that a brokered convention wouldn’t just go to either Paul or Romney anyway. With the fact that this is just a near-impossible scenario, neither Gingrich nor Santorum can still be running thinking that this is their way in. They know in their evil black heart of hearts that their attempt at gaining the American throne is pointless. The only motivator to stay in the race would be for more money and more recognition. These two men are building their brands and all the people throwing them cash are suckers.

At the end of the day, these two won’t even care what the outcome is because they’ll be sleeping on giant beds made of money. God bless the American political process and the tyrants that exploit it!

VP Drama: Biden Out, Cuomo In?Comments Off

*Taken from the NY Post.

A Prominent Republican is joining a prominent Democrat in predicting that Gov. Cuomo will become President Obama’s running mate for vice president next year.

Former New York GOP boss William Powers, credited with playing a key role in electing Rudy Giuliani mayor and George Pataki governor, was effusive in his praise of Cuomo’s successes in the just-ended legislative session, and in his prediction of the freshman governor’s political future.

“Andrew had a fabulous session. It was fabulous. A property-tax cap, ethics reform and, for Democrats, gay marriage,” said Powers.

Marco Rubio Rules Out '12 Presidential Run; Hedges on VP NominationComments Off

My Two Cents: Good, he needs to focus on FL. He also needs to focus on doing what he promised. Sign the FairTax bill homie and get on board with what Rand Paul is doing. Gotta be “bout it, bout it” mayne! Video at the link. End Two Cents.

Few new senators arrived in Washington this year with more fanfare than Marco Rubio, R-Fla. But he has kept a decidedly low profile since winning election in November, concentrating on Florida issues and turning down all national interview requests. That is, until now.

In a wide-ranging interview — his first national interview since being elected — Rubio discussed the military campaign in Libya, President Obama’s leadership, the so-called birther movement and his political plans for 2012 and beyond.

ABC News spent several days with Rubio in Washington and Florida, getting exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to a 39-year-old Republican whom many conservatives would like to see run for president.

After persistent questioning, Rubio ruled ruled out a run for president; at least in 2012.

“I am not running for president in 2012,” Rubio told me.

You can watch the full exchange HERE.

Rubio, however, was less definitive in his response to media speculation that he is the odds-on choice to be the GOP vice presidential nominee.

To hear what Rubio had to say about that and see the rest of my interview with the senator, be sure to tune into “Nightline” tonight and to “Good Morning America” on Wednesday when George Stephanopoulos will have the first live national television interview with Senator Rubio.
