I’ve been a busy bitch for the last few weeks. Granted, I posted a lot of original commentary last week (nine I think) but those were all stories that I had been working on for some time. My job has me bogged down and I’ve been handling a few personal crises the last month. I’ve also been putting together The Swash book. I’d like to have it out in time for Christmas but that probably won’t happen given that the holiday is about 90 days out. I’ve also had to omit a lot from the book as I want to keep it at around 200 pages and I had well over 400 pages of material to include. The editing and omitting process is pretty difficult as all of which I write is pretty fucking stellar.
We’re just over a month away from the midterm elections and I’ve been trying to keep up with the madness of that but everything else on my plate has been a distraction. In any event, I am starting a Congress/Senate Fantasy League for anyone who wants to play. The idea came out of my distaste for Fantasy Football which is a plague in my office and the source of most of my office’s counter-productivity during the 4th quarter. If you’re down to play, let me know. We will be drafting before the midterm elections, as the results of those elections are what will determine the points earned in the league.
In regards to the midterm elections, I am currently torn between voting for Marco Rubio and Alex Snitker. Snitker represents my party, the Libertarian Party, and I agree with just about 100% of what he’s saying. Rubio, is obviously the favorite to win right now and he is a much better choice than Kendrick Meek and the evil vile Charlie “What the fuck am I?” Crist. I agree with most of what Rubio says and due to the race in Florida being the way it is, if I don’t support Rubio, it is likely that Meek or Crist could take the Senate seat. This is the problem with third party candidates and independents. I think we should have more choices but sometimes more choices can take votes away from the lesser of the top few evils. I’d rather just get rid of the Republican Party and the Democratic Party and have the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party be the big two. Yeah, wishful fucking thinking I know.
For the record, I hate Keynesian Economics.
I am currently reading “Rules For Radicals” by Saul Alinsky so I can understand the mentality of the liberal fucksacks who are running our country into the proverbial ground. The book pisses me off but I have found some use for it and it has given me some ideas to implement into a character in a novel I am working on.
I recently finished Dick Armey and Matt Kibbe’s book “Give Us Liberty”. It was pretty good. It gave a good short history of the Tea Party movement and a behind the scenes glimpse at the organization, FreedomWorks. There was a lot of mention of Ft. Myers, Florida in the book which is cool because that’s my area of the world. Harborside Convention Center bitch! I also recently finished a bio about Samuel Adams. Up next is, “The Man In The High Castle” by Philip K. Dick. I’ve been wanting to read that book for awhile.
I don’t watch much TV but I am excited that “The Office” is back on tonight, in what will be the start of Steve Carell’s last season.
I just pre-ordered “Fallout: New Vegas”. I anticipate that it will take up a good solid month or more of my life. “Fallout 3″ had me locked in my room for 3 months, due to all the expansion packs I downloaded for it. This may be my new favorite series, since a real “Metal Gear Solid” game will probably never come out again. Lately, I’ve just been playing “Red Dead Redemption” online, as I’ve basically done everything possible in the single player game.
I’m looking forward to “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” this weekend. Hopefully prison didn’t turn Gordon Gekko into a reformed shell of a man.
In regards to the actual “state of the Swash”, breakfast food and swashbuckling are nearly non-existant on the site anymore. Politics have taken over almost fully. Maybe a revamp is soon to come. One thing I would like to do by year’s end, is to establish an awards system so I can give out annual “Swashies” (I can’t afford actual trophies) to those who deserve them. I’m trying to think of some categories.
Well, I guess that’s it for now. I have a headache due to an overabundance of caffeine and cheap pizza. I feel a bit vomity and my cigar isn’t helping.
